Meet Your Doula, Mysti.

Mysti Dyse (She/Her/Hers) is a Black, African American, English and Spanish speaking, Full Spectrum Doula supporting families in Oakland and surrounding cities.

Over the course of 12 years from attending her first birth as a massage therapist in Los Angeles, Mysti has been continuously and divinely drawn in and thoroughly enveloped in all things birth, pregnancy, postpartum, and babies.

She is passionate about community birthwork; supporting families that are exposed to the medical and socioeconomical systems that exist in the U.S. and across the world; providing, holding and protecting space for folks that may or may not have had the opportunity or support to do so; So that they may with confidence make decisions towards peace, joy, and fruitfulness.

That passion has led her to become a Medi-Cal Approved Doula, currently contracted with the Alameda Alliance of Health - Managed Care Plan (with more to come); As well as be trained in African American Postpartum Care with SMC Doula; as well as an active Black Beloved Birth Centering Doula serving black birthing people in Oakland. She partners with Embrace program at UCSF and directly with many hospitals to serve where she is needed. She is both American Red Cross Adult and Infant CPR certified as well as American Heart Association Basic Life Support Certified. She is an Evidence Based Birth Pro Member which allows her to easily pull articles and research on many pregnancy and labor topics from a statistical and factual approach.

Additionally, She is a Certified Blactation Educator and a Certified Blactavist Peer Counselor, allowing her to provide comprehensive lactation support and education while knowing when to refer to an IBCLC (International Board Certified Lactation Consultant).

Her approach to birth support is a fluid mix of evidence based and holistic. With the understanding that this awe-inspiring reality of our creation and what we are capable of creating is nothing short of a miracle, she is honored and humbled to be witness to and flow with every birth she attends.

“Through my own experience in life navigating the medical system, from being a former foster youth learning to advocate for myself in the doctor's office, to being pregnant with my first child learning how to navigate and uncover the fear driven status quo that is being black and pregnant; I realized that while we can do it alone, it is much better together. No one should HAVE to do it alone, we are all deserving of love, peace, and joy - regardless” - Mysti Dyse
